Creating jobs from a sustainable business

MillRace IT is a Social Firm - a business set up to create good quality jobs for people disadvantaged in the labour market. 

As a Social Firm we are committed to earning at least 50% of our turnover through trading goods and services rather than obtaining grants so it is vital that we provide a competitive professional service to our clients. 

We offer a supportive workplace to people who are struggling to get jobs by working with agencies such as JobCentre Plus and  Shaw Trust to provide work and training placements to people who have been long-term unemployed.   We help to improve their self-esteem, overcome barriers to further training and employment, build their confidence and give a purpose to their lives.

Social Firms commit to having at least 25% of their employees recruited from people who are disadvantaged in the labour market.  At MillRace 66% of our staff currently qualify in this way, most having joined us on work placements with progression to permanent jobs.
